That's huge! Are you going to mount it? Where did you catch it and on what?

I don't believe in killing the anything over 3 pounds. I let him go to make babies. I caught him on a 3 inch gulp smelt. I'm not going to give the lake away, sorry. Ill tell you its in the Haliburton's close to Algonquin park , very close.

I thought I would add that although that is my biggest smallmouth caught, I have been fishing with others on that same lake and they have pulled out even bigger ones.

I'm salivating, thats all...

Nice bass. My personal best was a 22.5" pulled out of crowe river. Jumped, and spooled 3 times, and on the fourth jump, jumped right in the boat :). Thing was a monster, and on the advice of my Dad (I might have been 14-15) I let him go. Biggest and fattest smallie I've ever seen (didn't have a scale, or a net). Now when we talk about that fish, he says I should have kept it and mounted it.......woulda, coulda, shoulda. There was 3 of us fishing out of a 14' aluminum, and after the first jump and we saw how big it was, we were wondering how I was going to land it. The fish took care of that for us, it was friggen hilarious. We we're guessing around 6-6.5lbs for mine, and seeing your 20" weighing 4.9 makes it plausible I guess.

Buddy of mine got a 20" in roughly the same spot as mine a couple years later. That was a big fatty too.

Why would u wanna mount it? Wouldn't it more satisfying if it was in your tummy?

Bass are yummy but I find the 2.5 to 3 pounders taste better for some reason. I like to let the big guys go as they spawn. A buddy of mine uses this company here in Ontario to make a replica of the fish you caught. You give them the weight, lenght, and girth and of course the best picture you can take of it and the re-create the fish. They do a good job too. They hand paint the markings perfectly. Its pricy though. However he has had them do his HUGE 13 pound walleye he got in Quebec. Two HUGE peacock bass he caught in Brazil on the amazon, as well as the scary as hell looking huge payara he caught when he was there as well. I believe the company is called advanced taxidermy. Its in Caledon.
