New ninja in the east

Hello all,

I've been poking around here for a little bit now; finally decided to introduce myself. I've been rather excited about getting a bike for a few years now, but in university, I just never had the spare cash to get into it. Now I have a job, and suddenly noticed some money screaming at me, so I decided to revive the dream. I was originally introduced to the idea from watching some bike vloggers on youtube.

I got my M1 licence a week or two ago, right after signing up for a rider's training course with Learning Curves (wanted to make sure I could get into one, i thought they would be very busy). I have so far collected up myself a helmet, a Shoei Qwest that was on sale for a decent price, and fit very well. I was originally looking at Scorpion helmets, but sadly, they just do not fit my head at all. I also have a nice jacket from Teknic (a mesh one with full textile arms, I don't know the model). Going to wear my magnum combat boots for the time being, and I still need to get some gloves and possibly riding pants too (kevlar lined jeans?). Yes, I'm an ATGATT-boy (I like my skin! :D).

Unfortunately for my wallet, while buying my helmet, the shop received a nice little sexy number, her name was "Ninja 300". I just couldn't resist, and I went back not even 2 days later and threw my money at her, and asked her to be mine. She's going to be moving into a nice comfy spot in my garage this weekend.

I might be moving a bit fast, but she was a good price, so I just couldn't refuse (sorry to every person walking into the shop who was gawking at it, but I got her first).

I'm in the east end of scarborough, almost pickering; and I'm hoping to get a bit of riding in before the great Canadian lands freeze over, and I have to put her to rest. This looks like a nice place, maybe I'll stick around for a while.

Congrats and welcome to the forum, lots of good tips and advice here. There's also a group of 250/300 riders on facebook called Ninja 250/300 GTA

Firstly, congrats on the bike, the M1, and good luck on the M2!
I'm a fan of the 300's...but knowing I'll probably drop mine a few times...I'm sticking with a used 250. lighter on the wallet too.

I'm a newbie too. Waiting for my gear to come in...so I can go pick up the bike I want!

Congrats on the Ninja 300, I got my Green SE about 3 weeks ago, and I've been having a blast just bootin' around town, and getting comfortable on the ride. Been commuting to work with it too. Hoping to ride some twisty roads before the weather takes a turn. We should organize a ride. I'm thinking of heading out tomorrow morning, weather pending.

congrats on the ninja 300! It truly is a great little machine!

Yeah, i can't say it was a bad choice. Very light, agile, you can grab a fist full of throttle and it won't kill you (but it will certainly thrill you some). I haven't had a chance to ride around alot yet (stupid work), but i hope to get a little more time on it before my rider's course this comming weekend.
