Hey Everyone,

Just thought I'd introduce myself! My name is Joe. I'm 22 and I have a 2015 Honda CBR600RR.

A bit about me. I've been riding bikes for 10 years now, snowmobiles for 20 coming on 21 years this winter, atv's for 17 years. I've had 6 bikes over those 10 years.

1985 Honda XR 80
2006 Suzuki DRZ 125L
2008 Yamaha WR 250 X (used as an offroad bike)
2011 KTM 350 SXF
2014 Kawasaki Ninja 300 SE
2015 Honda CBR 600RR

I started riding on the street this year. I bought a Ninja 300 in March. I put 3100 kms on it between then and august. I really had wanted a 600, but due to insurance that wasn't an option. The 300 was a great starter bike. I learned a ton on it. My issue was that it wasn't quick enough for me. Coming from a KTM 350 SXF on dirt the Ninja was a dog!

In August I purchase a 2015 CBR 600RR. I got a great deal on it and insurance was reasonable so I went for it. Since then I have put 2700 kms on that bike and I love it.

The differences that I like compared to the Ninja are:
  • Much more stable
  • Doesn't get pushed around by the wind
  • Much quicker (I like quickness I a bike, I don't really care about it's top speed.)
  • Wind noise was reduced
  • Much nicer to ride in the corners
  • Lower RPM on the 400 series and ability to get out of cagers much quicker

Looking forward to learning from you all and hopefully helpingalong the way!

Welcome Joe!

Welcome.

You sure started out on the sleds early. When I was 1 I'm reasonably confident I was still filling diapers. ;)

Can't say I wasn't intrigued by those when they came out, but when I started sledding I learned on one of these. I think I was around 4 or 5 when I was old enough to actually manhandle the thing, they required good old fashioned brute force back then. ;)

To look at perhaps, but I don't have completely fond memories of them. Sticking gas soaked rags over the carb throat trying to get them going (the chokes never worked sufficiently), primer bulbs, bogie wheels falling off at random times no matter how much preventative maintenance you did...and the ride. The bone jarring, teeth rattling eardrum shattering ride. ;)

I remember when we get our first Elan, 1980's something or other - it was still a tank by todays standards but it was like going from a Yugo to a Bentley in those days. Had an Everest, big tank, one of the first with electric start - primo stuff in it's day.

Still have my dads (well, mine now, he passed away years ago) 1986 Polaris Indy600 Limited in my garage to this day. Hasn't ran in a decade, hasn't seen snow in 2, cover hasn't even been off in probably close to 6 or 8 years...but still keeping it for some reason - it's purdy.

You should get it running again this winter! The Farmers Almanac is predicting a great year for snow!

The climatologists would beg to differ. El Niño.

I couldn't even begin to contemplate how much work it would need to get it running again. The carbs would all have to be rebuilt without doubt, just to start, and I suspect there's a multitude of other things that would need attention before I'd even pull the start cord...which would probably break. ;)

welcome!
whereabouts do you sled? Ever gone out west....revelstoke or anything?
Thanks!

Usually up in the Kinmount to Halliburton area. Snow is usually pretty good there! I've always wanted to go out west and ride in the mountains. Haven't yet though.
