Hey guys, I just bought a 2006 Suzuki GSXR 600 (getting delivered this Saturday, Merry Christmas to me!). Do you guys think this bike is suitable for a new rider? I'm 22 with a full G and had my G1 since 16, just got my M2 Nov 9th. I took the safety course with RTI as well.

Hi there

A little late to be asking your question :)

Welcome :) :)

Btw I think we may have been in the same RTI course. I took mine in November too at the Polson location. The last session of the year I believe on the same weekend you mention. I was the older guy doing a refresher. The course was taught be Marlon - am I right?

I actually did the course first week of October at the North York Location. I waited till November because I got my M1 in September.

And I am from King City. I gotta say, the wait is killing me now that I got my bike and its only been one day! :P

Here is my bike:

Still trying to think of a name for it. Also, do you guys know where I can get a regular black seat or other seat colours? Owner doesnt have the original seat and I'm not feeling the white seat look.

Sounds good! Just gonna spend a few weeks at the beginning of the season to get a feel for the bike. I only rode it once for 10 min (test drive). But ya, soon as I'm comfortable with it, I'm down for some tandem riding!

Thanks for the welcoming guys.

yeah thats very good advice --- just take it easy, try not to get over confident on it man ... im sure you will be fine !

Honestly, no a supersport for a first time rider isn't the best idea(in my opinion), but seeing as you already have the bike- take it slow.

Ya I don't plan on doing anything crazy, I won't even bother to trying to do anything stupid. I plan on becoming a cop in the near future so losing my license or getting seriously injured isnt something I would wanna risk. Plus since I live in king city, I'll stick to mostly country roads.

Welcome! There is a lot you can learn from a lower displacement bike that doesn't just come as naturally when jumping straight into a SS. But that doesn't mean that starting on your new 600 is automatically going to kill you. Have fun an get familiar with your bike, it should treat you as well as you treat it.
