Greetings everybody.

I'm new to the forums, and already searched for older posts on this topic, and looking for some more recent info.

I'm ready to jump in and buy my first new bike (currently own a 1999 Ninja500R that I've had for two years).

Some background info- I've been riding for a little less than five years, on a Vespa LX50, Vespa 250GTSie, and a Ninja500R. I've put about 25,000Km on all of them combined.
I'm 6'3", 200lbs, with a grumpy lower back.

I'm upgrading, and have it narrowed down to three bikes:
GSX650F, FZ6R, or Ninja650R.
So far, I'm leaning toward the Suzuki or the Yamaha, but still somewhat open to the Ninja (though at current prices, that means about an extra $1500+)

Can anyone tell me how their GSX650 or FZ6R has been over a year or more?

Cheers!

Welcome!

Thanks. I had actually read that one, but it was worth a re-read. It was interesting to compare it with Cycle Canada's comparison of the Ninja and FZ6R, where they preferred the Kawasaki.
I was most hoping to hear from owners who have had them a few years.

Welcome!

Personally, I don't like either the GSX650F or the FZ6R, mostly due to both of them having steel frames. If you pick up a 2007+ Yamaha FZ6, it's a superior bike in my opinion (better brakes, aluminum frame, and it will be some dollars cheaper due to little bit of age! There were other reasons why I don't like the first two bikes, but I've completely forgotten them.

If money is not an issue invest in a newer bike. Sounds like you are ready for 600 cc.

those are all great bikes, outta those 3 I would pick the FZ6 (or an FZ8 :)
