Welcome, Nice choice for your first bike.

Welcome!! Nice bike!

I just got back into biking after being away for 25 years and I find that by repeatedly thinking about visibility and testing myself, I'm well aware of my limits and maintain safety margins.

I think you can start on anything you want - just ride within your limits, and KNOW your limits. I started back on an R1100.

I've been practicing my e-stops regularly on empty back roads, slowing down and to look at intersections and being prepared to stop, entering corners on the slow side and accelerating through, practicing changing lines in corners, practicing aggressive counter steering for quick avoidance maneuvers, thinking constantly about staying visible and out of blind spots. Its actually a fun challenge and probably the best prevention against riding like an idiot - like I did on occassion when I was younger. LOL

Stay safe and have a blast! As long as its above freezing, the season isn't over for me!
