New Liskeard ON "Bikers Reunion" & Sault Ste. Marie's "Ride for Sight"

New Liskeard ON "Bikers Reunion" & Sault Ste. Marie's "Ride for Sight"

This is my second post today, and only my first day here. ;)
Maybe I'm not looking in the right area/section, but I haven't seen anyone post about this big bike event this coming long weekend (Canada Day Weekend).

I just heard about it a couple of days ago, and thought I might be to late to reg. but it says anyone who didn't register before the deadline (June 16/12) could still head up there and register at the event and they'd help find anyone find lodging either at a hotel, motel, RV park, or camp ground for tenting. :cool:

There's also another biker event happening this weekend too.
Last weekend was Barrie's "Ride for Sight" which I heard turned out 1000's. But this weekend the Soo (Sault Ste. Marie ON) is having another "Ride for Sight". Here's the link below if anyone's interested in this event:

Again, if you think you're late to get into this event, you're not. There is a link at that site for a pledge sheet to download. Even if you only get 1 or 2 sponsor's/pledges you are more then welcome to head up there. If you aren't able to get any pledges, you can sponsor yourself. Just make a donation when you get there and enjoy the weekends events! :D

Hope this info tweaks someone's interests! Enjoy the ride, the events and the long weekend too! If you go, post some pictures and/or videos when you get back. I'm sure there's a bunch of us who'd like to see what we missed, or at least, plan for next years events!

It's a fun event. A long ride north, but I have a cottage up here and do it all the time. It is a beautiful ride.

I wanted to do this this year but I have a wedding on the Sunday to go to. I have riding friends from Kirkland Lake that would have met me there and I could have stayed with them. Hoping I can do it next year.

I was thinking about trekking up to New Liskeard for it. . .don't know if it's worth it in terms of size/things to do, etc. Their website and posters make it appear like it's largely a show up, look at people's bikes, talk with retirees about their bikes, listen to bad cover bands and go home kind of deal. If there's more to it than that I'd take it in. Is that what it's like? or am I wrong?

You're spot on CJ

I went this past weekend for the first time. They should call this the old foge's reunion.
No campfires, no bare breasts, hardly any burn outs and the camp was silent once the bands stopped. Ride for Sight is much better if you want a party atmosphere.

The best part was camping rough about 50km north of North Bay. Free site with free firewood and no one but us, the beer and the bugs.

Should have come another 30 km north from New Liskeard we had a campfire long after the bands stopped playing, but there were no bare breasts.
