hey whats up
my names francesco. live in toronto. new to the site
dont have a motorcycle, but i do have a 2005 yamaha bws that i've had for a few years now. im in the process of overhauling it (70cc lc race engine, exhaust and all that good stuff). hopefully i'll be done by summer.

im looking into getting a motorcycle when my scooter project is done. i wanted a something small to start out with like a 250cc, 4 stroke or 2 stroke. i've been looking into the old school cbr, fzr, and gsxr on kijiji. maybe even a rd350 (i like all kinds of bikes, especially cafe racers but these late 80's/early 90's bikes look so cool!).

a couple of questions i have
what should i be looking/checking for when im shopping for a used bike?

and are there any sellers that you guys have dealt with that can be trusted/can't be trusted?

thanks and looking forward to checking out this site

Hey Frank the tank! No streaking ok?

To answer your question, most bikes are bought used so having a database of sellers is out of the question. This is something you'll have to decide on your own and always take a friend with you that has been through the ropes.

When looking for a used bike, you want to do some prior research on the bike. Does it have any factory issues? What's the condition of the brakes, tires, chain, sprockets, etc. Does it start up really quickly while it's COLD. A lot of bikes have symptoms at cold but disappear when warmed up, so always check the bike cold.

Do the KMs match the age? Service records? Oil change history? etc etc.. it's mostly common sense but you can do a google search and there's a plethora of checklists that you can go through when looking at used bikes.

A scooter eh.. cute.. put on your thick skin and enjoy the site ;)

what!?
i hate e-bikes just like everyone else on the road, but i dont think scooters are on the same level as them. maybe mopeds, but not scooters! lol

i do plan on getting a bike sooner or later. i know that the winter is the best time to get them since prices usually go up in riding season, but my bank account isnt looking so good this year and unfortunately i have a few higher priorities this summer.
