You could probably pick one up cheaper in Quebec. The other provinces seem on par with Ontario.

Yeah, new vehicles for this year are rough. You’d probably have a better shot at the used market if you can swallow the inflated prices.

Although if he is looking used, be careful with interprovincial sales to make sure the title is clean.
Indeed. Probably best to stick to used Ontario bikes for peace of mind.

cant you check quebec titles at service ontario with the vin?

The VINs are specific for Canada/NA as far as I’m aware. No reason you can’t look it up from any province or territory.

quebec has different system for (not) maintaining used car's history including incidents, mileage and previous owners... buyng brand new one shouldn't be a big difference...

its like finding a unicorn, i was able to locate one in Saskatchewan, anybody know how taxes would work ? pay their portion of the tax there and then pay the whole 13% in Ontario ?

By the look it would cost you more... but if unicorn worth it...

Cost

In addition to the cost of the vehicle, there are other costs to take into consideration when buying a used car out of province. There’s also the matter of “all-in” pricing, something that you’ll find in Ontario but possibly not in other provinces. This is something to look out for when you’re buying a car through a dealership as private sales typically include the entire cost.

When it comes to taxes, different provinces have different tax rates. You may also need to pay your province’s motor vehicle tax on top of the GST/HST you paid when you got the car. Luckily these are things that each province’s VRA can help you with. They can give you more information on how taxes work in each province and how that will affect your out-of-province purchase so you’re not stuck with an unwelcome surprise in the end.

To access all of the important information required when purchasing a vehicle out of province, check with the VRA from each province here:

I believe that you can purchase in another province and as long as you trailer it back to Ontario (do not plate it it another province) they may waive the sales tax since you’re just going to file for reimbursement anyways. Best to call the dealer.

My brother bought a couple of bikes in BC, one for me.

I was able to plate it and insure it here with the documents that were sent to me, fly out and ride it home. It was a few years ago and mid summer so the ride was great with a backwind the whole way home. The only struggle I had was to vary the engine speed for break-in so took some back roads and find a dealer at the 1k mark to look it over and dump the oil to keep the warranty valid.

Not sure if the transfer rules have changed now.

Bought a used bike in 2019 from BC and had it shipped over to ON. Once in ON had it safetied and presented the BC used vehicle paperwork to service ontario to get it registered in ON. Aside from the extra work of shipping it, process was trouble free

I think if you find a 2022 bike you want somewhere, you just buy it. I don't think that is going to get better for at least a couple of years. I tried to buy a new car last year and had them check across Canada and could not find one.

did you get shipping insurance. For me, everything is good, but the shipping company or my insurance wont cover the fright part of it.
Im now looking at third party insurance companies that do fright insurance.
