Hey all! Just got my first bike this year and was wondering what you think I should invest in for upgrades/mods etc. Got the gear, now just wondering about things like Rad covers, frame sliders, heated grips etc. any suggestions as to where to start?? Thanks.

frame sliders

- Braided lines to improve braking performance
- Frame Slides to protect the bike for low speed slides
- Tank Pad to ensure your jacket zipper does not scratch the tank

Congrats on the bike but just get out & ride for now, if you want to do mods wait until winter & then you can go nuts!

Thanks for the input! Trying to get lots if kms, but our weather isn't cooperating!!!!

Spend some time riding for a while so you can determine what is a must, and what are nice to have items. Enjoy your new ride.

That sums it all up right there. Anything else is a want not a need and gives you something to do over the winter next year

Not all of us have garages to work on our bike in the winter!

Heated grips are amazing if you plan on riding in colder weather.

Frame sliders for sure.

I would look into SS braided lines too for a future mod

Most everything else is very preferential.

If you commute on it look into either a tail bag or a motorcycle specific backpack

I prefer the mod where you fill the gas tank, and then use it all. wash, rinse, repeat.

SS brake lines do very little on their own, you should upgrade from OEM pads and also an aftermarket master cylinder to really gain the most out of your braking components.

Rearsets help with foot positioning which in returns helps you to be more comfortable on the bike.

Levers and windscreens are not really something I would recommend, it is a waste of money and offer no real gain.

As far as rad guards go, check out COX rad guards, if they make one for your bike, buy it. If you find it too expensive, you can always get some chicken wire (or similar) from Home depot and fabricate your own.

Also, there is no sense in doing all these mods in the winter. Yes you can take your time but then you have to wait forever to enjoy them. If you can afford it, do it now! You won't regret it.

If you are worried about gas money while owning a motorcycle, you seriously need to reconsider your priorities.

i think he meant that he'd rather use the money on gas to ride the bike more than buying "mods".

I need a tank protector badly, I can see the scuff marks starting already...

I'd get a tank protector and frame sliders asap. Those are what's gonna keep it looking good. Performance stuff can wait.
