While the base model gets more electronic goodies and features from the upspec model, while still retaining more offroad-ability.

Lower seat height = me likey.

Always liked the Africa Twin but the seat height kept me away.

I read somewhere the base model is only available in DCT, me no likey that

i doubt base will only come with DCT, it's aimed at the dirt riders. one would expect them to prefer a clutch option.

Really, a 1600 GT is a better fit for them but doesn't give off the man love vibes as much. Definitely matches better with the Klim gear though.
