Need suggestion for self-made screen(s)

Eventually I'll buy a rad guard, but for now I'm wondering if I can come up with some steel mesh or something I can buy from Home Depot. I want to cover the oil-cooler (the bottom hole), and if it's strong enough, even the radiator (top hole). Anyone done this and has a suggestion for me?

Id say from home depot i would go with quality door window screen to start , then mesh steel screen ( in the hardware section, or metal lathe from the flooring section, id rivit to lower fairing "triangle"
Either way should protect from the little bits, and bigger stones and such

Canadian Tire Grill Mesh.

Its $40 for a long sheet of it found in the automotive section.
If you lived closer id give you some, as i have some left over.

Thanks guys, I like your suggestions! Just when I thought I'm done with the bike, looks like I'll have some more entertaining work on it during the weekend :D Love it!

Guys, once again, thank you for the tips.

I checked out all suggested choices today after work, and decided on the floor lathe (a large sheet for $5.19). I made a double screen with two crossed layers, here is the result (don't mind the bad spray paint, it's a track bike):

looks good, great job on it. I'd consider doing the other half as well, you never know what is going to get flung at you on the street/track. Oil cooler guard doesn't help you if you have coolant leaking from the top half of the radiator. Granted the lower half is likely much more susceptible to damage. Again, looks nice!

looks great!

For the rad, I'm not sure how to "design" it. It has to be removable, otherwise I won't be able to put on / take off the top bodywork (unless I remove the whole front end--wheel and forks, lol).. so I'm not sure how to go about it.

instead of putting it on the body work might be able to fasten it right o the rad through existing mount holes with zip ties. Mine is kept 1/4" in front of the rad by what looks like neoprene stickies (weatherstripping), that came with it, but fastens to the bike using zip ties. And this thing was $90.
