Need some advice: selling not admissible KTM RC8 in Canada as Trackbike or in US.

Hi,

I'm looking for advice, I have a 2009 KTM RC8 that I brought with me from the US as personal effects but unfortunately the bike is not on the list of admissible vehicles so I cannot register and license it in Canada. Would it be better to try to sell the bike here in Canada as a track bike as it is not road legal or try to advertise it in the US in cities not too far from the GTA area?

Pictures on the link has some small damage on the right side has been low sided ones.

Thanks

Either way you aren't going to get what its worth compared to if it was street legal.
US market is waaaaay cheaper then the Canadian and your not going to really get top dollar here since you can't ride it on the street.

Why not just advertise in both places and see if any bites instead of just trying one place?

Definitely try to advertise it in Rochester/Buffalo/Detroit, whatever else is close-by, but as jeffjones mentioned, you won't get 'Canadian' price for it down in the States. Great bike...

Not looking for 'Canadian price' I used to live in the states and brought it here without paying sales or import tax since I owned it for a longer time. Bike has a Washington State title.
Been sitting in the garage for last year and a half and just let it run every now and then. Just hard to decide it's time to let the bike go since I'm not riding it.

So only certain bikes are allowed to admissible in Canada?

The RC8 is sold in Canada. I don't understand how it's not admissible to import.

i remember the Pontiac GTO wasnt permitted in canada a few years ago... canada blaclists some bikes and cars for dumb reasons.

OP - are you sure you didnt make a RC8 replica on a custom frame? i think you need vins for it from the ministry.

The only thing I can think of is that the RC8 was only available in Canada sometime after the 09 model.

KTM never did the paper work with RIV to have the RC8 as admissible :( I called KTM north America last year and the US and Canadian models are exactly the same, you can simply change the mode of the dash from Miles to KM. I've contacted transport Canada and if it's not admissible then bad luck can't put it on the road.

Why Don't you leave it under your American address, registration and insurance? You must still hold an American licence? Just change your address to a family members on your insurance and licence. Then you don't need to worry about Canadian registration rules

Yup, and what is he going to do if the accident happens?

use his American insurance

Insurance fraud? If it was fully legal, im sure everyone would be doing it to save a few grand a year.
