Need Help installing Stator

so last week my 02 R6 broke down on the 407, had to push it about 2-3 km to someones house, turns out my bike was only pushing about 9 volts, and i was getting no charge from the alternator.

picked up new stator and gasket from yamaha today. was wondering if anyone could come and help install it. since I am mechanically unsound. No shops were able to take my bike in today because they were booked up. and i need it up and running so i can drive down to waterloo. Send me a PM and i'll send my number.

Thanks

where are you located? this is not a difficult job really. but you might ask the question "why did the stator go?" the electrical systems can be troublesome to resolve because there are many areas in the harness and connectors where resistance can occur, which strains the system and causes premature failure. you dig?

i've written quite a bit in other forums on the topic of the electrical system. you will want to check all connections and even pull each. i would even go so far as to suggest routine maintenance on the system in order to be sure that all connections remain integral. use dielectric grease in the connectors to keep water, moisture and corrosion out. especially examine the regulator-rectifier unit connection. i've an old 99 fireblade and the original shunt-type RRs are *****, so replaced mine with a MOSFET-type unit from an R1 off ebay. and 16,000kms later, still runs. of course, i need to get to valve adjustment. ugh!

I bet you, its not a stator issue.

my guess is that there is a wiring issue; like loose connector(s), which has possibly caused regulator-rectifier to fail. you'll want to find the issue before you throw good parts at it, or you'll be wasting money alright. it might take even an awesome mechanic hours to find this, so get ready to pay some labor here. or invest in some tools and get ready to become an awesome mechanic. good luck. ride safe.

turns out my bike was only pushing about 9 volts, and i was getting no charge from the alternator.

That 9V was measured where? On the output from the rectifier, I'm guessing..?
How was the "no charge from alternator" verified?

spare @ $330? that's a expensive spare...

Hopefully it would work at least half as well as a cheaper one... :p

If the OP has the receipt, maybe the store would accept a return (after the stator failure has been ruled out, that is...)?
