I was changing my oil and as I was tightening up the oil drain bolt, the piece right around the end of the bolt broke off. Now theres oil leaking and Im at a loss as to what to do. I need help finding out what part I broke so I can call some scrapyards to find a replacement. Or else some advise as to what I should do. Its a 1983 Honda Cb450 Nighthawk. Will upload a pic as soon as I can. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is the drain bolt head still on the bolt?

if you snapped the head of the bolt off this will get tricky

What is with the oil change problems in here the last couple weeks. Better knock on wood or it will happen to me next, now. But to the OP yes it sounds like the crush washer. May be as simple as going to crappy tire and finding one the right size, or if it is an odd size you may need to go to the dealer or a bike shop.

I dont think thats it. Its a small piece right where you tighten the oil drain bolt into the bottom part of the bike. (Not sure whats thats called either, sorry) So now no matter what I do, theres oil leaking from the part I broke off.

Lucky for you, 450 Honda twins aren't hard to find in the scrapyard......I can't imagine an oil pan for that would cost any more than $50

The 450 Nighthawk doesn't have a separate oil pan. The oil drain bolt is threaded directly into the lower half of the crankcase. You're pretty close to SOL if you don't know how to remove and disassemble a motor. Swapping the lower crankcase will cost hundreds at a shop. It is a fairly common motor, same one used in the CMX450 Rebel and CM450.

Ouch..

For the life of me I can't picture what the OP's describing. Is it some kind of flange or protrusion on the oil pan?

Cracked to crankcase. So Im basically screwed. Its just a small piece but that doesn't matter. So now Im just trying to weight my options. Found the lower crankcase on line but they go for $500 or so. Definitely not worth it. I was told to try some JD Weld because its just a small piece so I might give that a shot to see if it holds. Thanks for all the help folks. Really appreciate it.

+1 for JB Weld.

Definately give that a shot first and see if it holds.

Another one for JB weld.

Buddy used it for his dirt bike when he did the same as you and it worked.

My clutch master cylinder is held together with it as well.

Take your time with the repair and it should hold very well.
