Need a new helemt

At the beginning of last season, i started off with a bell revolver because it had the face lift thing so it was easier for me to put on my helmet (due to me having new ear piercing) so that it wouldnt hurt as hell and that i didn't know the value of a helmet.

Now skipping to today, i noticed after awhile of using my helmet i started to get some neck pains, prob because of the weight of the helmet? and it basically is falling apart.

I mentioned the problem i was having with a buddy of mine who owns a shoei rf-1100 i believe and he said he never had that problem.

So i was wondering if there is any good helmet that is light weight that i should look into? I am hoping to buy locally rather then somewhere like superstore which would cost shipping and handling.

shoei + arai

is there any store you would recommend?

also would sizing for bell be same to shoei?

gp bikes, they have everything you could imagine.

btw dont buy a helmet based on looks, get one that fits right. different helmets have different internal shape to meet your noggin type

yeah i don't buy for looks really, just looking for simple 1 colour helmet. Nothing fancy

Check out and try on as many brands as you can to see which one you like better, and which one fits into your budget as well. Like Paul said, Shoei and Arai are great helmets and very light. I'd recommend trying on a RPS-10/RPHA-10 as well, as they are also quite light (atleast compared to my old Joe Rocket). Also there was a forum member that picked up a Kaos Carbon Fibre helmet from GP bikes at the end of January for around 300 I believe. Lot's of different options for you out there, but most important is fit. Make sure to wear it around the store for 10+ mins to see how your head likes it

Don't fall into the "Shoei or Arai" trap. Yes they are excellent helmets, there's no arguing that but there are other excellent helmets on the market that are competitively priced that may fit your head better. AGV, Suomy and Shark come to mind

A modular helmet will usually always be on the heavier side. Your Bell Revolver was relatively hefty at about 1800 grams for the large. A correct fitting standard full face should definitely give you some weight savings. +1 to everyone that says fit is key. A correct fitting helmet that weighs 1650 grams will feel better and distribute weight more efficiently than an improper helmet that weighs 1600 grams.

If I had the money I would definitely get myself a AGV GP-Tech 5 continents. Always loved that graphics design

Kahuna has got a bunch of helmets in their showroom as does Cycle World in scarborough.

About the Revolver, would you mind elaborating on what you disliked about it besides the weight? I'm contemplating a modular for city riding and the Revolver is at the top of my list.

Alright so

Pros
For the price, its a pretty good helmet
I love how it has the dual visor
the facelift is convenient if you get a call

Cons
You get what you pay for right?
Poor ventilation
Fogs easily
Loud if you reach certain speed
Heavy

Thats the only thing i can think of at the moment

If you want something to prevent fog, make sure the helmet that you choose has a pinlock visor available for it. When it comes to visor fog, pinlock systems can't really be beat

i'll definitely try out a couple before i buy. Unfortunately gp bike is too far for me so i would need to look around locally in GTA.

anyone know if http://www.thedukesofcycle.com/ is reliable? Selling the rf-1100 for 350
Dude just attend the March motorcycle show...you can try all of the helmets.....all of em. You could get deals too...

Check out Royal Distributing. They have very competitive pricing on all type of helmets. They always have the lowest prices compared to other shops. I recently picked up a Shoei and saved around $200. Unfortunately they aren't in the Gta area. Some shops in the Gta that you could try are Kahuna, Gp Bikes, Brampton Powersports.

Thanks man that helps. I agree with Julz, check out the show and if nothing else you can just enjoy your time there. I bought my helmet at the last March show.

Royal Distributing is right next door to GP Bikes. They also have a location in Innisfil--a little south of Barrie visible off the east side of Hwy 400--but neither are in the GTA unfortunately.

anyone know how big the march show is? is that the biggest one?

I went to one in the winter/fall and was kind of disappointed...

Well I know the December show is tiny, but the January Supershow was huge
