Need a new garage door opener...

As the title says, I want to replace my garage door opener. Battery is dying and was thinking of getting something possibly with a bit more range. I am a garage door opener noob so need help. I did see these on Canadian Tires website:

Now my question is how would I make this work with my garage door opener? Its obviously not the same brand and did not come with what I have now.

It would very from product to product, you really need to get some sort of installation instructions to figure out if you can use it.

Your garage door opener needs to be able to receive the signals the remote is sending. You really need to know how both units work to know if they are compatible or can be made to be.

What brand garage opener do you have now? Genie makes units for Sears, Lowes and other off-brands. You have to see if the Genie transmitter system is the same as the opener you have now. It will be like a dual frequency or intellicode 1 or 2 name or something. Best bet is to try and find the manuals online for each and compare.

Or, just buy the remote and see if it works, can always take it back no?
