My rate seems high but possible

Hi everyone brand new to the site and looking to get into the sport of riding. My first bike I was hoping to be a ninja 250r (to reduce insurance and learn riding on). However TD has quoted me at $2600 a year, it seems alot but possible because of age and other factors. I am a young rider age 21, just got my M1 last month but have done the M1 to M2 course. I have no tickets or charges on my driving record, I have had one NOT at fault claim from my car. I live in Kitchener ON and I have shopped around but no one seems to be able to give me a lower number then TD. Should I try Jevco? I have heard they wont insure new riders. Thanks and take care. P.S I have a garage to store my vehicles.

Unless you have 5 years of G "experience", I think that's the best you'll get. I'm 22, have had my m2 for a month and pay $1700 a year for my 250. Had my G2 since I was 17 so that made a huge difference at StateFarm...

Cheers

I got my G1 at 16 my G2 at 16 and my G at 19. I havent tried state farm but i'll give it a shot. Thanks

How did you get G1 and G2 at the same age?

If you do qualify for state farm, they may be your best bet.

You should give Desjardins a call and see what they quote you. I have similar stats and I'm paying about 90/month for a ninja 250. Keep in mind for the future that they will absolutely not insure any supersports.

Should I try Jevco?

First Jevco was acquired by Intact so the real question "was" should you try Intact.

I always find it funny when someone asks this type of question in a thread. It takes what 5-10 minutes to call and get a quote? Worst that can happen is they'll you they won't cover you or quote you an enormous amount. At best, it'll save you money.

Now, if you don't know the main companies you should call, that's a different story...

Pro rate with TD MM till feb it'll be around 1600. Then SF for your 2nd year of riding would be cheap as ****

Because between the main companies, most notably state farm, your quotes will vary.

My quotes with Statefarm varied from won't insure unless I put car with them to 1700 for a GSXR-750. =P
