So came across a very strange problem today when riding home for lunch. My neighbour, who I have been living beside (town house) for about 5 or 6 years, her garage door today now opens with my garage door opener. We have both had the same setup in our garages for that whole time, nothing changed, nothing added, no new remotes. For some reason mine will open hers, but hers will not open mine.

Anyone ever had this, or know what the solution would be? Both craftsmen, except in her remote it looks like you can program it, it has sliders, whereas mine has nothing but a circuit board.
 
I think they randomly assign a signal frequency sometimes.
It just so happen you guys fell on the same frequency at the same time. It took 6yrs for the same frequency to coincide. The law of probability...

ps. I heard another conversation on my cordless phone the other day

I just read about that elsewhere. As hers is locked into a specific frequency, the newer models roam and change I guess. I wonder how long it takes for it to change again.

I thought if you had a rolling code, it changed with every use. Has she used her remote since this started?

Maybe u should call the Co. for the garage opener
 
random shot in the dark, did you try killing the power to your device and turning it back on?
 
older models have switches, grab the model# and do a search.

It is a fairly common problem, that's why most manuals tell you how to deal with it...

Read The Fornicating Manual

The manual will tell you how to reset the main unit and re-pair your remote to it. Either you or your neighbour will have to do it.

I had neighbors who suddenly my garage door opener opened their garage. They were really annoying though and the guy was super anal about his yard so we didn't do anything to fix it because we didn't park in our garage. We would just mess with him every once and while and watch from the window :D
 
my garage door opener sets off my neighbours car alarm when ever Im a few meters away from it. it works perfectly to my advantage... cause their a**holes and huge whales. so to see them wobble to their car is worth it everytime...
