Well after pissing around all summer. Jumped on a thrashed 2001 R6. Picked up cheap. Needs some work but that's what I wanted. Started ordering parts. Will try a d maximize stock parts till I gain some confidence out there. Looking to some insight and knowledge from GTAM.
Congrats.
I raced my 99 R6 bone stock for almost 2 yrs with podium success.....Still do as a matter of fact.
The shock was way tired atthe beginning of this yr so I sucked it up and bought an Ohlins for it. Otherwise it's still the same old hunk of **** I have been racing all along....lots of duct tape and zipper ties......and it's still very competitive. You don't need to do anything to it as far as mods go to start off. Just make it safe and track worthy. The bike is already fast...now you gotta make YOU fast.
i also made the mistake of buying an 01 r6. and out of the 40 plus bikes i have riden/raced it was the worst bike i have ever had.i rode it twice and then sold it.
but i guess it is a good place to start.
