Turns out MX insurance isn't as easy as I thought to get. Who are you insured with ? I'm trying to insure a 2013 kx250f Im 33 but have a couple tickets any thoughts?

Well, when you get it let me know where...
All I want is theft on mine, since I'm covered at the races for liability.

Figure you have a $7000 bike, and I have another $5000 in upgrades on the thing and if it gets stolen I'm SOL. Can't have normal insurance on the thing since it's used for racing, and places won't touch it unless I do put the liability on it.

Im with State Farm in orangeville, I have my 76 Honda 175 and my 01 klx300 with them, I just have fire and theft on them, it's around $230 a year total for both bikes.

Stupid question, im just curious why does it matter if you have tickets when getting mx insurance ? Why does insurance company care if its just a off road mx bike your tryin to insure?

they use any excuse possible to raise your rates, and honestly, if you dont follow rules on the road why would they think you would follow rules in the bush ?

I have a vehicle (the Porsche) insured with The Personal with no liability on it. Theft and comprehensive only. Well, technically it does have liability on it but it is "suspended". I just have to call them once at renewal time to suspend coverage until some point in the middle of the year and then when that day comes along I have to call them again to suspend it for the rest of the year. For some reason they won't let me leave it suspended for the whole year. I'd just take coverage off since it's worth almost nothing anyway but then I'd have to get an appraisal again to put it back on the road (which would still probably work out cheaper... hmm).

I know that's not an MX bike but thought it might be relevant since it does have theft without liability (in a way). Very probably not doable for a vehicle that isn't street legal.

TD Meloche Monnex wants $500/year for my CRF450...theft and liability
I might or might not have said that it "will not be used for racing"

Exactly what I asked them.

called her, who ever answered didnt realy have any idea what a dirt bike is, where I was going to ride it. and how to quote me on it

Thats weird, thats who im insured with, just renewed yesterday.

She is one of the two insurance providers listed on the oftr website.

That's bizarre - you should call back and find out who you were talking to specifically. The OFTR lists that specific agent for a reason and if they are giving you a hard time things need to be fixed. I have personally sent many people to that agent and they have never had a problem, maybe someone new works there now who needs to be educated.

The OFTR is very fortunate to have two Insurance Agencies involved in providing coverage for our members.

These two firms have experience in Off Road coverage and the OFTR They will do their level best to get you the policy you need.

Try calling TD they insure my DRZ 400 which is street plated ($350 per year) as well as my 700cc ATV for about the same price.

I insured and green plated my RM 250 and then thought, why? I'm not stopping and now I've just given them a chance of catching me (the plate number). Why bother insuring a motocross?

If your insured and plate why would you be running?
