Muskoka - July 5th Weekend - Anyone

Anyone riding to, or around in Muskoka, Bala, Southwood 13 etc at all this weekend? Even a casual ride and lunch for anyone already up there, if you're not too weird we can all go for a swim at my cottage as well :)

i'm waiting for dhruv to post up his weston 400 ride to muskoka.

or the assassins niagara ride. find muskoka roads better but the niagara riders are faster so i don't have to lead.

wish there were spirited riders posting up rides up north so you don't have someone like me leading roads i am still exploring.


looks like all the newbs will stay home with the possibility of rain.
also probably why no one posted a ride yet.

Be careful on 13. I dropped bike there few weeks ago. Tons of sand and gravel everywhere.
 
That's always the case. Not as bad as the unmarked railroad tracks on that tight blind corner! I'm surprised there aren't more interesting stories about that one over the years...
 
few weeks ago as i was coming around the corner i see a train coming. it crossed the road as i just made the stop. they should cut down some trees or something. barely enough time to stop. i was hoping everyone had enough time to stop and not crash into me.

Yap, I will be heading that area this Sunday. Not exactly Muskoka but very close.

did a similar ride a few weekends back

So I did a scouting route up north this Saturday and boy I am glad it wasn't a group ride.

route: 400 > 11 > southwood > 169 > 118 W > brackenrig road > windermere road > DeeBank Road > 141 North > 400 > 518 > stisted road S > Hoodstown Road > Aspdin Road > Peninsula Road > Foreman Road (frank miller memorial route towards 169) > 169 South > 11 > 400 ..

Bad roads:
518 - construction. Small gravel areas with poor signals and warning, some very close to tight corners and hard to spot (not riding ready)
SouthWood - this road had a bad winter, lots of bumps, holes and a bit of lose gravel (ridable but with care)
Stisted Road - Sandy in some areas, specially in corners, stick to your tire lane.
Peninsula road - A 3/4 KM stretch of construction, is really hard gravel so you can ride at about 60km/h, with good signal before the construction part. The rest of the road is amazing and worth taking.
Aspdin Road - relatively good condition but a bit bumpy.

Hopefully that helps you plan routes to someone else.. I hope to check the 507/elephant road Kawartha lakes roads later this month and let you guys know..

I was there last weekend, but I caged. I'm thinking of spending a weekend at one of those little motels on Hwy 60 and riding around the area. Still a plan thou.
 
I hope you guys went for a ride. After last weekend's ride, I wanted to take a break, did close to 1800 kms in last 3 weekends (was tired) but can go next weekend if the weather is good!

ha ha. sure. i heard you were on a slow ride. you were right about me not being a match for it.
 
anyone riding this weekend. weather looks awesome. i can meet at rutherford and 400
 
I'm heading to Hali on Friday early afternoon. Plan so far is to take 400/11 north to Orillia before heading east for some good twistys. I'd hook up for the first part if timing is right.
