Muskoka 13 road was not kind today

I managed to drop tiger today in Muskoka Ontario....

I am fine... Even rode it home...

Big THANKS to couple on cruisers that stopped and helped me to get the bike up!!!!

Road 13 is great windy road but it was full of gravel and one corner got me.
We were not riding fast and I was expecting gravel, while that corner did not look
like it was much it was spread all over.

Rear broke loose and was hopeful that it will catch again.
It did... Just too far off, It started as low side but when traction come on again
front wheel was not pointing where rear was.
2-3 quick left-right trashing kicks to my *** and bike dropped on left side. I ended up on the same side.

GF tells me that I tucked in and rolled a bit and stopped.
It was too fast for me to know what the brain does if it did anything.

My gear did amazing job. I do not have single scrape. Wrist barely feels off all in all I am 100%.

As for tiger. Shift lever broke. I had to bend the tip and tape the rest on in Walmart parking lot.
I broke that bracket that holds mirror and brake on right side, no clue how.
Probably hit me when it was trashing around.

Rest of the damage was screen and rash 2013 collection on the right.
I am not entirely happy with the engine guards but I did ride it home....

I rode it 150km like that and bike feels fine.

Gear held up great, you can see only damage in pics. Helmet STAYS,
I am not buying another one, it was just month old and it did not hit hard :)
I will get the new visor...

So there you go kids, be careful out there and wear your gear...

If you can walk away from it its a good day in my books

Most unfortunate. Glad you're okay. Southwood? I rode it last August and there was a ton of gravel, was quite surprised given the time year. Will likely avoid it this year.

I was meeting some guys this morning at Guelph Line and 401 ramp. I got off at the exit then got on the ramp to re-enter where they were waiting and I wanted to just rip the ramp and give em a show. As I'm entering ramp there's BAD gravel both sides of the road, no probs, stay in the middle and I should be good, NOPE. Right in the middle of the corner, gravel spread right across! Didn't panic, no brakes, bike slid a little but stuck again once it got clean(er) :) Woot for not dumping it bad in front of a bunch of gtam members! lol.

Good thing is you're okay. Sucks that you dropped your bike but it's repairable.

Glad you're alright Germax, and also good to hear the Tiger is still in good shape.

I went on that road last year in August and it was junk. Lots of Debris and gravel, huge tire track ruts, and we even had a Dump truck riding in the middle of the road. (luckily it was going in the same direction as us)

13 is a bike eater of a road. If its not sad it's frost heaves or cars coming over the line.
Was fun when they paved it about 9 years ago but all its good for now is wrecking bikes.
Glad you walked away for that one.

Glad to hear you're ok and that the gear worked as it should.

Did a 1200km loop towards Calabogie a few weekends back and there was gravel all over those Northern roads. I'm sure you're not the first this season and won't be the last.

Love the duct tape job! One of the less heralded benefits of being a biker is that it forces us to be(come) mechanically resourceful lol. That's always a good skill to have in life.

All that carnage and not a lick of damage to you. When all the repairs are complete, and you're back on the bike smiling - enjoying the motorcycle - that is all that'll matter and that (more than anything) is what counts.

At least get the helmet X-Ray'd if you want to keep it. Personally, my head is worth more to me than any helmet.

Same road where I went down two years ago. Nice fast turns and hills and everything, and f*cking gravel all over on some turns. Can you post the location (turn) where you went down?

almost bit it twice this season. This year has been the worst !

last i recall there would be multiple crashes on single rides last year. sometimes multiple crashes by same rider on single rides.

Yes, Southwood.... I am not going back there any time soon...
Last year I rode that area for two days and had great roads but I was not on 13.

I am happy with the outcome, repairing bike is much better than being repaired in hospital :)

Moving parts are ordered already, pretty parts can wait...

What saved the day:
-Hand guards (saved the clutch side controls completely and it was pretty good bang)
-MX style knee guards (never ride without, it takes 20 sec to put on)
-Gauntlet gloves
-Hip padding
-Helmet that covers the nose :)

Cheers everyone!

Man...Southwood eats bikes....

It just begs you to go fast, and the gravel is usually in the worst turns. Last year we had a noob rider on a Katana, he crashed right at the start of the road after multiple warnings...picked himself and the bike up and jumped back on. Then he crashed again at the end of the road...at that point the bike was toast.

Also watch out for the railroad crossing at the north end, it almost launched me.
