Multiple Car's - possible?

Not even sure if this is possible for newer car's or not...

Might have to drive a bit next year for my day job, hoping to buy a compact 4-Cyl sedan to save on fuel. Vs my 3.7L Liberty.

Are there any companies out there - they would insurance two cars? without needing to pay a ton of money for both of them?

It is going to be 1 house hold with 1 driver and 2 cars. I know Haggerty does it for classic cars if you have a primary vehicle that's used on a daily basis....

but is there anyone out there - that would do it for for modern cars?

Two car's in questions would be

Primary for now would be : 06 Jeep Liberty 3.7V-6 4x4
secondary would be something like a : Corolla / Elentra / Matrix....

I know a coworker that insures two cars. A rav4 and and s-class. He had to pay the higher premium and like $20 on top for the lesser car. I think he said its a leisure car and daily. Sorry I don't know what the company was.

You might want to speak to your agent. I had a winter car before.

Don't say I didn't tell you to get the diesel version engine. Would've save you the $ and hassle

Interesting I didn't know you could to that anywhere -- Best I have seen is the fact you get a 'multi-car discount' which really equates to next to nothing.

I know I got into a minor argument with TD MM as well when signing the bike, as they wouldn't allow it to count towards the multi-car either (since it is multi-car vs multi-vehicle, and apparently they believe I can ride and drive both at the same time....somehow.)

How long and how much driving would you have to do before you realized any money saved on fuel as actual saving overall?
Would you even be saving anything by buying second car, that uses less fuel, and insuring it.... versus just using the Jeep?

essentially you would tell them that you use the compact 4-cyl sedan for work, and the 3.7L liberty for pleasure.

if you do choose to take the 3.7L to work and get into an accident, it could be considered insurance fraud

+1 for diesel, we had an 09' Civic which did about ~450km/50L... our 13' TDI does ~1000km/50L. We also saved $80/mth in insurance with the TDI over the Civic.

The Diesel version is just bad. I would have been paying about 2x price for a diesel that would rot away. Not to mention the unreliablity of the diesel. I

If I were to go to Diesel - I would go towards a 1 Ton pick up like a 2500HD or F250, but that's over kill for me right now.

I would not mind buying a 4-6K used beater type of car. If I drive 2000kms / month - I could re-coop that investment rather quick. My work would pay per KM as well.

I had been toying with the TDI Jetta - but I just can't do a car all the time. I've always had SUV's - and I would prob take the Liberty to work when it snows....no way around that is there?

I think my best bet would be to buy a Tourag TDI or A7 TDI, but the A7's are a lot of $$$; and it is almost impossible to find a used TDI touareg - not to mention the depreciation and cost of ownership.

Any car with normal ground clearance and snow tires can get you to work in our winters.

If you say the Jeep diesel is not reliable, I would stay away from the VW's. I know this will open a can of worms but I'm not going to debate this. Just letting you make an informed decision. Especially if it has mileage on it, if it was on warranty, by all means.

There's no company that I'm aware of that will give you the second vehicle for "very little premium". At best, The Co-operators have a discount for people in your situation (i.e. more vehicles than drivers in the household) but it's only about 5% or 10% on each vehicle. If companies gave the second car for very little premium people would exploit that like crazy by hiding operators.
