Muffler Packing

I will be purchasing a DR400 with a full FMF exhaust on and let me tell you it sounds Awesome! however I think it maybe too loud so I am wondering if anyone has any experiance with repacking the pipe if thats an option.

just buy a db dawg. alot of places it is mandatory to run db dawgs anyway.

Interesting, never heard of it befor so I googled it. Seems like a lot of mixed reviews, have you used it personnely.

It might be time for a re-pack anyways, so do that first and see

I have used one and it lowered the output by 2 decibels on my wr250f with a full DRD exhaust.

Put a spark arrest or screen in it and see how it sounds. You'll need it to ride the ganny anyway.

I have used a db dawg quite a bit, and while it does lower the sound, it also killed the power and made starting it a pain, it totally messed me up, once the bike was running it was fine, other than being down a little bit on power.

this was on a honda crf 450

Thats what worries me, I think I will try the repack first and take it from there.

Repacking it loose will quiet it down. However, it'll fry the packing quicker and need to be repacked more often. If you pack it too tight it'll be louder than it is now.
