Hey there, Im planning on buy an 80s Yamaha XJ 550 type of motorcycle and converting it into a cafe racer. Is it possible to move the foots pegs with the controls back a few inches so it feels like a sport bike?

Thanks

Anything is possible. How much work and $ would are willing to spend is the question.

skip nailed it. You should be able to fashion some rearsets for it

Ok so im assuming its a common modification. Im willing to spend in the hundreds but not an arm and a leg.

Thanks for replying!

Yes many people move the pegs around. If you are lucky there will be a kit already done up for the bike. If not its not a huge to move the resets. just will require some fabrication.

+1

Create an adaptor plate to move your existing rearsets to where ever you prefer.
Just get some 3/8 inch aluminum plate, a hack saw, a file, and a drill plus some elbow grease.
Create a cardboard template of where you want to put the controls and where the existing holes on the frame are.
Trace the template on the aluminum plate. Use the hacksaw to cut the rough shape and then file to smooth the edges. Drill the holes. Install.

You'll probably need another 2 bolts for each rearset.

Should end up like this : http://www.ebay.com/itm/Riser-Plate...Parts_Accessories&hash=item3a78835fa1&vxp=mtr
