Nothing on that trail is too difficult per se, but wow... it's a long, steep way down on the opposite side.

I'm surprised that trail's allowed to stay open, I bet there's been victims.

There's a trail like that in Moab right? Reminds me of one of my fave trails in Calgary, Sideshow Bob... except the trail you showed is much, much scarier.

Like watching baseball. Just when it's getting exciting they stop the action and scratch their nether regions.

What do the hikers think about it?

In general, hikers hate everyone except other hikers..and sometimes they even hate other hikers depending on how eco-nutso they are. They especially hate mountain bikers. I once did an 18km mtb time trial..turned into a 40k epic after some hikers rerouted the course into oblivion. They believe the are god's chosen people. Equestrians are only slightly less hateful, but they have the additional feature of feeling superior to everyone in the world due to their wealth. I rode up on some equestrians once and they said "Careful! You're scaring the horses!!" and I said "And they're not scaring me?!?!?!?!" They're like 15' tall and the riders were clearly unable to handle them..as I swerved around the giant piles of **** they leave behind...

I ride with some pretty "colourful" characters, and not once has one of them stopped to take a five pound dump in the middle of the trail.

My sister teaches dressage. Family gatherings can best be described as entertaining (at least my nephews think the way I talk to their mother is entertaining).

I once encountered a large group of "hikers" (i use the quotations because most of them were wearing running shoes) while on my mtn bike that were on some sort of nature tour of the escarpment on the Bruce Trail. One of the organizers stopped to let me know in all his righteous snobbery that bikes weren't supposed to be on that section of trail and the land owners would lynch me if they caught me for digging up the trail. I let him lecture me for a good 5 minutes before I told him that my family owned that particular part of land and that in fact he was on my property.

Captain ********* Mc****face didn't have much of a reply to that.

LOL ever met climbers? They think they ARE gods. Really killed the sport for me.

One day land owners will have less protection on their property than vagrants. I can see it now "get off your property before I call the cops, you're hindering my geotagging!"

Yeah, roadie bikers are the same for me. Killed it for me. I hate generalizing, but..yeah.

It's not that. Most landowners don't give a crap really. The Bruce Trail got approved for hiking..but most landowners simply don't want motorized vehicles on their property and the Bruce Trail predates the whole MTB thing. The hikers use this "hiking only" thing to lord themselves over all other trail users. Some MTB'ers do cause problems..but it's out of proportion to the hikers' belief that they walk on water...

Don't even mention who closes trails to who.
All the yuppies from the GTA that found out about the St. Williams and TP trails moved on in and shut it down to all of us locals that regularly use the trails for our bikes and ATVs... You know, the people that decades ago created the trail system. Half of it isn't useable for the recreational mountain bikers, and most hikers wouldn't ever get back in far enough to the good stuff.

It's a volume thing for sure. Too many bad apples spoils the party. People take advantage and the next thing you know, it's closed for EVERYONE. Sux..

That's a nice place for target fixation on the right hander on the bridge just past the three minute mark.

Yup.

I grew up north of Burlington. When I left for school back in 2001 the trails up there were well used. You could park on the side of the road at the trail head and have at 'er. When I moved back after school in 2008 there was no parking signs near all the trail heads so I would have to ride there then hit the trails. Well, since no one can park there anymore no one uses the trails anymore. So many of them were overgrown to the point of being unusable. Lame.

Hilton Falls is still one of the nicer areas to ride up there. Not the most technical stuff in the world but not bad.

I'm a "hiker" and I love everyone.

Maybe I'm not a true hiker. Maybe because I used to mtb I have a soft spot for them in my heart (unless they are jerks on the trail). Or maybe because I used to have horses I get excited when I see the hoof prints.

I'm having an identity crisis. I don't even wear hiking boots (those are for suckers!)
