Motovan goes consumer direct

Seems like it could be a reasonable approach. If you know exactly what you want, the dealer doesnt add much value to a non-stocked part order. Playing the telephone game of ordering parts from bob at the dealer who then calls in to Motovan just adds unnecessary cost and complexity to some transactions.

Wasn't the problem with Motovan that they were barely a distributor, but more a middle man between the customer and actual distributors in the US? And now they're cutting out the retailers that we ostensibly like, and want us to go straight to them?

Please let me know if I'm wrong, otherwise I can comfortably say I will never spend a sprinkle of pocket lint with them

Unless they start selling Motul 7100 at a loss

Motovan was a big player, they actually owned a U.S. distributor until it all fell apart. They aren't cutting out the dealers, just showing price/availability direct to the consumer, you still have to go through one of their authorized shops. The huge problem is that they got cut off by a lot of suppliers, so what they've got is what they've got. If you wait for a backorder you could be waiting for a very long time...
