Motorcycles speed comparison

My fastest rides are 250kmh on a 2003 FJR1300 and 260 on a 2010 Hayabusa. Both on 404 north of AuroraRd.

I had to use GPS, after 200kmh I couldn’t look at the speedo. The FJR run was bike limited, the Busa was courage limited.

My car limit is 255, which was a speed limiter run that ended in a catch and release. Car was my 300zx Stillen. 404 north of Stoufville rd.

172kmh on an 05 Skidoo MXZ,Kempenfelt Bay.

I don’t do that anymore. Except for a moment this summer on 144 when I found a DL 650 did 181.

That video went super shady with the Tomahawk at 644 km/h. My ass it will do anywhere close to that. Probably half that estimate is in the ballpark.

More worried about cops or crashing? Daytime or nighttime?
Once you’re above 200, cops are not top of mind.

For me it was unfamiliar territory, things start to happen that you’ve never experienced, and it not like you can just ‘try this’. What if something breaks? Tire, chain, wheel bearing? I’ve blown a tire at 100 kmh, bumpy but the bike slowed controllably - at 300 I wouldn’t know what to do, and no time to figure it out.

At about 180, I felt a sudden aerodynamic lift on your helmet, 250 wind is grabbing, pushing, and hammering you.

I’m guessing that like anything, experience builds confidence. I did those passes on a whim, not a plan. I’ll never see those speeds again on a bike.

Mexico can be fun this time of year.

For those that travel to mexico often, With increased air density at colder temperatures, how is terminal velocity affected? You make more power but you are also pushing heavier air out of the way. I've never tried terminal velocity runs at varying temperatures.

An indicated 237 kph on my FZ6 on the back roads to work one morning.....
Coming home from Dover one night on my old GPZ900 I got on the 403 at Brantford and held it over 200 until I got to the 401. Fun ride....

On my old 2001 ZX9R in Mexico it was over 300 indicated a couple of times. Real speed I have no idea. Took a shockingly long time to slow down to reasonable speed.

The cooler air definitely offsets the power. Remember, air friction doesn't rise linearly, at about 200kph and up, it rises exponentially.
