Motorcycle Technicians (some questions)

Hi there, I'm pretty good with repairing stuff and worked an my bike quite a bit to get it going once there's a problem.
I'm hoping to take my experience much further and I had a couple of questions for any Motorcycle Technicians / Shop owners.

1. Which program/school would you guys recommend?
2. In the long run I'm planning to have my own shop, Roughly how many years am I looking at? I know this question is broad but just in general..
3. Can you provide a rough range of salary of someone that's operating a shop. I know this is also another iffy question because here we have the winter months so the work is seasonal..

Thanks in advance!

I remember seeing a post like this in the spring, you can probably find it, but from what I remember, you wont really like the answers. If your passionate about it, don't let some posts stop you, good luck!

You need to get a job at a shop and become an apprentice. Once you accomplish that then you get to go to Centennial. While you are an apprentice expect to get $12 an hr. Program is 2 years once you have your license expect $18 to $25 hr depending on your skill level. You will more then likly get laid off for winters. Some more info for you here:

Go for you car mechanics license if you want to be a motorcycle mechanic. Motorcycle mechanics are seasonal, unless the dealer sells/services snowmobiles. Having your motorcycle license only is too limited. Get your auto mechanics license, and you'll always have a job. It's a five year/nine thousand hour apprenticeship, with three-two month in school sessions at Centennial College.
