motorcycle story, last 4 posts really make you think

What a horribly depressing post....and a week before my bike trip too.

FACK! Thanks a lot for that. :confused1:

Well, that's a cheerful way to start the day.:(
Slowbird, don't let it get to you. Bad things happen every day, but so do many, many good things. Enjoy your trip, ride safely and post lots of pictures when you come back. Or maybe a video of you droning on, just describing the pictures.;)

Read the original thread on adv a while ago, truly sad, RIP

No ****...Deals Gap in 2 weeks for me. I can't wait to crash into a coyote or Harley now. Thanks OP

wow........ Live for today because yesterday is gone and tomorrow may never come~~".

How incredibly sad. I can only imagine the overwhelming troubles someone must endure to decide to end their life. Absolutely heartbreaking. Also makes me think of Phatstud (Chenhan Wu) who took his life a year ago.

RIP

I actually purchased a hoodie from the cbr forum with his name on it ( in memory of) what exactly happened?

I know the story is pretty depressing but hey if we ride safer because of it then it's worth it

His passing wasn't motorcycle related, and I don't know exactly how he did it. Not that that matters. I know he had run into some trouble with the law, but aside from that, had a huge family and group of wonderful friends, a successful business, worked out like mad and had a fantastic bod, traveled and seemed to enjoy life, etc., etc. The type of guy who had everything going for him.

I don't know if you knew him. We spent quite a bit of time on FB chat, he and I. I never met him in RL. A very happy-go-lucky guy. You'd never guess he was dealing with any demons to push him to that edge. He never let on. He literally went to the gym the night before, worked out as usual, then went to his shop the next morning and took his life. He left up a FB status thanking his friends, and then he was gone. Just like that.

Well Stormcat, his death wasn't exactly caused by motorcycles, but it was definitely motorcycle related.
For anyone who hasn't read what transpired, here's the Cole's notes version:
Fellow decides to go on epic tour from US to South America.
Hits a donkey in Mexico, breaks his back, and is a parapalegic, feels nothing from mid back down.
Eventually commits suicide.

My take on is that his being disabled really took it's toll on him, and he mentally couldn't living that way, and that's what drove him to suicide.
I'm reading his book now actually...

My own Coles notes for you: He was asking me about Phatstud (note that he mentioned purchasing a Phatstud hoody from dot net), not about the man who is the subject of this thread. I said this made me think of Phatstud as it's been just shy of a year since he took his life.

Clarity is everything, no? :)

I saw that post a few years back, it's sad but you can't let it stop you from doing the things you do. You do what you can to minimize the risks but let's be brutally honest life at times, even off the bike can be dangerous.
