Motorcycle Security at Hotels...

Been really enjoying my Honda VTX 1800 after not riding for five years (2400kms in the past two weeks). I have a few weeks of holidays coming up and would like to do a nice three day road trip. My real concern is keeping my bike safe while sleeping. Are there hotels that have impounds? What else besides an alarm (which I don't have) would deter thieves?

I stayed at a motel in Haliburton last night... they offered me a kickstand puck but that's about it :D
Seriously though, I have no idea but if you're worried maybe you can chain it to something in the hotel's parking lot?

Ask nicely and you can probably park it beside the front door. Aside from that, bring a cover and a disc lock.

Get a room on the ground floor and roll it right into your room. That is what I did when riding to PA with my Dad.

^^look for a motel with parking right outside the sliding door on the first floor. A disk lock with an alarm or the stick on door frame buzzers on the wheel from the the dollar store and a baby monitor also works well.I know a guy that gets "SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL HELLS ANGELS" stickers and puts them on the bike too.A bulldog alarm from wallmart for $50 mounted under the bike or in the motor with male and female terminal connectors so it can be removed but hard to see.

I have stayed at a variety of hotels while touring on the bike and have never had any concerns in regard to security of the bike overnight. On our last trip down to PA on July 3-4 we asked if we could park under the roof overhang near the front door. This was mostly due to the rain that was forecast for the evening, but also because that area was concrete, rather than asphalt. The manager was quite agreeable as long as we did not block the driveway or walkway.

The attached photo was taken the following morning as we were getting ready to head out. My friend's FZ had been parked between my ST and his brother's V-Strom.

Most hotels/motels will let you park at the entrance if you ask. But what I tend to do is stay at motels. Cheaper and I can park right outside my room. Makes unloading and loading much easier.
The HA stickers I wouldn't mind getting my hands on one for my bike.
