motorcycle parking in Hamilton

I've been wondering for a while if I can park for free in Hamilton, as there's nothing about it online, I really have no idea. How can they expect to ticket a motorcycle anyway?

Anyway, I'd be interested to hear any parking stories in Hamilton.

No free parking, want that then head to metro TO. Meter readers and authorities are roaming the back streets etc and ticketing. City is broke. If you are ticketed and it is lost/removed you certainly will find out when you go to renew your license or registration.

Not a check in heck of catching a free ride in paid parking spots, for motorcycles in Hamilton. As DoubleJ alludes to, it seems that Hamilton heavily supplements it's revenues with zealous enforcement of bylaws. I've seen parking enforcement literally camping at parking zones/lots waiting for their next fine - and their meter-maid SUV's are generally unmarked, so unless you know what to look for, they are hard to spot..

Major bummer, what the heck can they expect for pay and display?

They can expect you to take your chances displaying the ticket in the open or go elsewhere. It sucks. It also sucks when their machine doesn't work and the entire lot gets ticketed and the response when I fought it was; "You should have gone somewhere else then, you can't park for free".

Down by the Hamilton General the meter maid is driving a unmarked white Camry. Tire chalk marking so you need to roll it a few feet if you are close to the time limit and are able to get back.

Gotta be careful as "feeding the meter" is also against the parking by-law in Hamilton. I found out the hard way.

I can't find any evidence that the wonderful effort put forth by Mr. Knight had any effect what so ever. If anyone has any further information regarding this, please speak up.

I just called parking services. Nothing has happened there. With Pay & Display, we need to keep the permit, and if you're ticketed, you have to go into the office to get it waved.

Other dumb rules:
- Only one motorcycle per space (e.g. street meter parking)
- We're supposed to park the motorcycle "the same way that you'd park a car".

I've decided to look for a parking garage instead.

As already stated, Hamilton by-law is heavily enforced in Hamilton for the purpose of supplemental income for the city.
Many tickets are knowingly wrongfully given, but they know most people will pay the ticket rather than take the time off work and jump through the necessary hoops to fight the ticket. It's intentional.

didnt know hamilton didnt have free moto parking. i guess thats one nice benefit of riding in the **** show that is toronto.

Free and Hamilton. In the same sentence. Thanks for the laugh.

I haven't been there for a while but I though weekends were free along Ottawa Street. Check first.

Someone who lives there told me parking enforcement doesn't work weekends. Again check.

Fighting them is becoming difficult as they take pictures of the infraction.

I got one in a car and tried to play dumb. No luck. Denied. Pictures to prove that it was issued correctly.

Halton Hills has gone to a third party for by-law, They are like **** hawks.

I parked at the end of my drive sideways and had half a tire backed onto the boulevard and they ticketed me for it. Pics taken and emailed to upon request

Milton also patrols the street pretty well. I think they also gone the 3rd party way for over night patrol.

I see tickets on my street fairly often.
