Motorcycle parking around King/Strachan

I'm starting a new job Monday and wondering if there are any side streets I can park my motorcycle around King and Strachan for free. I understand that the immediate vicinity is permit parking only and don't want to have to pay monthly parking if I don't have to. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Wouldn't park there if my life depended on it, personally.

Think there is a lot north east of that area in the stafford area. Green p. walnut and Adelaide. Not the best area IMO

If your parking a Honda Grom there, then I wouldn't. Cool little bike but one strong guy can pick that thing off the ground. I see that your named gromgirl so that's what I figured.

It's an up and coming area. There is a shelter just south of that location, and there are always grubbies that hang out by that esso begging for money.

It's right by liberty village too, but not exactly the most desirable neighbourhood..

the grom looks like a fun bike to ride though!!! Not as heavy or powerful as mine but it sure looks a whole lot nimbler

I park at King and Peter every day and have never had or heard of anyone having a problem. Downtown is downtown - derelicts and hoods aren't confined to one area.

Personally I didn't think it was bad around there, but I grew up in public housing. Try Shaw, just above King. It looks all right. And if you're paranoid, get a lock.

East liberty is a good idea... There's a parking lot by the metro there I believe a green p there

King and strachan has always been a little bit of a shady area. Again. The proximity of the homeless shelter, crack heads, prostitutes and this same lady that walks around with no pants on are ur neighborhood regulars... I drive in this area every morning and occasionally in the evening and see all these folks...

King and peter is a blossoming commercial area... Not surprised you don't have any issues.

LOL, at King & Strachan the most likely thing to happen is a hipster taking a photo of your bike with their Nikon. Park your bike on any of those streets and you will be safe. Well, safer than any condo parking lot in the GTA ;)
Homeless people & crack heads don't steal motorcycles, ********** from the 905 do ;)

Hmmm - conflicting views. The Grom is such a little bike, I'm always a little worried it's going to be lifted right off and carried away. Would paid building parking be a better idea? I'll grudgingly pay monthly parking if it means I can ride my bike to work.

Princess's Man lives in the area. And, my little bunny, King & Strachan is not shady. :bunny: The shady area is west of Dufferin (aka Parkdale), although even that is, for the most part, untrue.

OP, you can try E Liberty. But, most of the spaces get taken up by the construction guys. They're usually there at 7am. You can still try, but be forewarned. It's only 3 hours, and I usually see the parking guy giving tickets. I usually see motorbikes on Hanna Avenue near Balzac's Coffee and on Atlantic, but may be a trek for you. There's also a big Green P parking lot right in front of Balzac's.

Best thing to do, is to come down in the area.

Hope Princess's Man was of some help!

+1

I work there. First few replies are silly. There is an assortment of hobos that hang out there all the time, but they're completely harmless. 90% of the crowd is upper-class trust funders from the neighbouring condos and offices.

To each their own. I've been working in the area for 8 years now. It's up to the OP to choose or not.

Western battery road. That was the road I was trying to remember. Townhouses. Parking from 8-11 free. Quiet street. Ect.

I do work the For the condo corp. Nice area with the sketchbags being filtered by a small residential street.

Park on Canniff, I've never left my bike there all day but I do some work in the area and have never had a problem with it there.

Park on Sudbury St. Might be a trek but you can park there pretty much all day without any issues.

Don't do that. A small percentage of the pleasure of a bike is not paying for parking. Paying is for cagers. I'd cruise the area and park near other bikes. Strength in numbers.
