Motorcycle Electronics Education?

Does anyone know of any courses in motorcycle electronics? Such *** fuel mapping, or ABS, or EFI, or does all of this just come with being a mechanic over the years? I have been looking for specific courses but cannot find any, thanks!

humber college has a mechanics course.

Basic is 1 day and teaches you a bit of everything.

The more intensive course is a 7 part weekly class (wed 7-10pm I think). Each class addresses a different part of the bike (eg/ electric one week, carburation the next, suspension, etc.).

You can sign up for just the electrical portion or just take all the classes.

It's on my to-do list lol.

"Fuel mapping" is something you are not likely to get adequate information on, in a "how to fix it" type course. For something like that, it's better to read books about the fundamentals of internal combustion engines. The theory about how air/fuel ratio affects BSFC, power output, emissions, etc has been reasonably well documented since the 1940's and the fundamental theory has not changed, even though the method by which the end result is achieved has changed (EFI versus carb, etc).

Here is one pricey textbook ... http://www.amazon.com/Internal-Combustion-Engine-Fundamentals-Heywood/dp/007028637X

And to address the fuel injection part of it, doesn't get much better than the Bosch fuel injection handbook

It does not matter if the fuel injection system on your bike was manufactured by Bosch or not. Bosch pretty much invented fuel injection and all others copied. All modern gasoline engine fuel injection systems operate similarly to Bosch Motronic, which is covered in that book.

EFI for motorcycles is pretty simplistic compared to most cars. Most training would be for cars rather than motorcycles, but it's essentially the same thing. Every once in a while some of the aftermarket EFI manufacturers have sessions for training using their own equipment, but it's fairly specific training and select locations. Motec always has courses going on and have moved to webinars as well.
