Motorcycle Chase in LA

Always good to see the cops get their man when it's a doochebag like that. Link should be in the multimedia section though.

I don't think that guy could ride.
He was weaving pretty slowly.
 
Didn't see a chase there at all. Maybe he was chased at the beginning? He basically gave up at the mere site of a Police officer.

The reporter mentioned the rider was being pulled over for speeding and ran. He went from traffic violation to felony faster than a speeding sportbike. Or is that a misdemeanor in CA?

The CHP whipped out his gun pretty fast, eh?
 
I can't understand why the guy couldn't have just gone around the CHP motorcyclist.
(not that I endorse running).

Why did he just stop and drop his bike??

didn't see the cop pull out his gun until the runner was already off his bike
 
I wasn't insinuating he saw a gun, I was insinuating he was afraid of getting shot as soon as he saw the cop 5 feet away. It is L.A. after all....

Sorry, I honestly don't know what LA is like, but I can't see a cop shooting at a motorcyclist as he rides by. I don't know if that has happened before down there.

If the cop is in the riders trajectory and the rider does not attempt to stop, they will shoot...although i havent seen an example of this first hand with bikes, it has been done many times before with a car.
 
Looks like he thought the cop would be willing to smash into him if he accelerated, which caused him to hesitate and then give up.
Wouldn't really apply though if he started turning to the left as opposed to the right.
 
that officer sure looked alot like this guy: I would've surrendered as well.
