Hi guys,

I'm looking for a good 2 way alarm, since my insurance savings will justify the cost.

I came across this, its only $80 and their store isn't too far from me.

However, I haven't found any reviews online. Has anyone installed this one? The only other one I've found is the Scorpio 9000 which is considerably more expensive .

I'd appreciate any advice

Get the Scorpio, simply because if you buy the bike specific harness it's a plug and play installation. You will have to hack your electrical harness to mount the beret, it will drain your battery quickly, also if you are not installing it your self you will be looking at 1 1/2 to 3 hours of shop labour rates. I highly doubt TD insurance recommends the beret; they probably want you to choose between Scorpio, gorilla, etc..

Thanks redballs, but the SR-i900 will cost $300 more.. also, the insurance company's dont give a **** which brand you install.

They will be equal in price after installation if you don't do it yourself. Also after replacing your battery every year the Beret will actually cost you more. Don't forget about the time that will have to be invested to restore your factory harness to its original state when you realize that you want to remove the beret from your bike. From my recollection TD and MM request only certain types of alarms.

Correct these insurance companies require specific alarms. Truthfully speaking the beret is cheap, it is what it is, a cheap alarm.

Ive got it but don't trust it entirely. So I have comprehensive insurance

I don't have an alarm on my bike, but how do these help, other than making noise?

By letting you know via the remote device that someone is in close proximity to your bike. Also when the actual alarm is going off. Hopefully giving enough time to get to the bike to see whatsup.

The Scorpio is a nice alarm since the RFID makes arming/disarming something you don't have to think about. My alarm is for people trying to squeeze into a tight parking spot near my bike, or randoms who touch my bike or try to sit on it. Never caught anyone sitting on it, but seen some girls fondle it as they pass by.

I also lock my helmet on my bike (unless I'm going to work) so it helps prevent people from messing with it (friend used to always find garbage inside his helmet when he rode to school)
