I might need someone to ~carefully~ modify the fit of some new shocks I purchased if the warranty falls through. It involves minimal grinding (about 1 mm) and de-burring of the clevises. Anyone good in the west end/Mississauga area? Thanks.
The lower shock mounting bolt is 8mm. The clevis width is too narrow to slip over the bushing/spacer and would need to be widened to 20mm (from ~18.7mm). One of the mounting holes is tapped to accept the bolt, which is similar to the OEM part. There's also an ugly burr on the inside on both clevises, which would interfere regardless of fit.
It's the right part for the application, but it looks like a QC issue. If it's not covered by warranty (or the terms are ridiculous) I'll need a Plan B. Still waiting on the specifics at the moment.
The clevis is welded to the shock body on mine, not bolted. The space between the "arms" needs to be 20mm, but is currently ~19mm. The mounting bolt holes are 8mm. One is threaded, one not. The threaded one wasn't cleaned up properly, so there's a burr on the inside complicating matters further.
EDIT: Thanks QB919G. I'm going to give the vendor an opportunity to respond first. Should know in a few days.
