Moto Guzzi

someone here has one, can't recall who though.

reviews on it seem decent, but i think the new tiger 900 is the current king.

I think it's @Jayell that has one on here. Don't think anyone buys a Guzzi cause it's the "best", it's just plain cool.

'Looking at getting an ADV bike to add to the garage...
V85 TT.... Good or bad... Go!
beautiful bike that gets great reviews
I like the idea of a dry clutch - opens up lots of choice for oil

yep, @Jayell can give you a rundown on the V85

there's a few members on here with very distinct bikes and every time I see them I wonder if its @J_F with the capo or @Jayell with the yellow guzzi

It’s a euro bike I’d own. Aesthetically the most beautiful Adv available, and Goochies are pretty dependable and easy to service from what I hear.

Rode a Norge a few summers back, lots to like in the comfort and handling departments.

I’m tossed up between an FTR, Gooch and the new Dl1000. All different, all would fit in my garage.

I'd take one of those engines and put it on a table as a centre piece... Beautiful.

Exactly this. There's nothing wrong with the Guzzi but it's not the best at any one thing. With basic suspension, basic power, basic electronics it's basically competent in those areas but if it's looks are your thing there's nothing else that looks like it so it'll be your best option.
Dealer locations for servicing may be an issue for some which is something to consider.
I personally love the looks of almost all the Guzzi's and I did shop their ADVish bike but ultimately bought the Ducati for the performance.

They are gorgeous to look at. I would not buy one with any intentions of offroad use. It doesn't have the specs for real trail use (obviously) and it's just too damn pretty to run it on gravel imo.

haha, nah. It's a longitudinal crank and driveshaft, so the dry clutch can't be exposed like the transverse Ducati dry clutch.

Open clutch cover on a Moto Guzzi might cause some problems:

:D
You will note that to replace the dry (think volkswagon beetle more than Ducati SS) clutch you have to basically remove the back half of the bike.

What does that mean?
