Mono Shock Adjustment, CBR600RR????

I have a mono shock I believe to be from a CBR600RR (see image). I have built this into my Custom '79 Yamaha XS650. I am looking to increase the preload, compression and rebound on this unit. I can see it has multiple adjustments on the shock but I'd like a few pointers before I dive right in. Here is an image of the shock when I got it.

Now, where would be a good place to start? Upon acceleration the bike squats down and I would like to prevent this. Now I do see the collar around the base of the spring. Also there is an adjustment screw at the large end of the shock, also an adjustment screw on the resivoir.

Where do I begin???

Here is what I have mounted it on.

Cool bike. Sag on takeoff could be due to geometry, however playing with the shock could help some.

I am far from a suspension expert, but I typically use preload (the collar at the base of the spring to set sag (with rider in position) to ~25%-33% of travel (typically 1"-1.5"). If I am bottoming out on big bumps, I turn up the compression damping, if I am bottoming out over many small bumps, I speed up the rebound. This is obviously not the best way, but it works for my style of riding.

Article by someone a lot more knowledgable than me.

Alternatively, you could go to someone like John Sharrard (Accelerated Technologies) and get it done right the first time.
