mobile certification?

My friend bought a 2009 Vespa 150 that only has about 1000km from a private seller, but the scooter is in good shape, the stuff i can check are all working (brakes / lights / horn etc) , well its got only 1000km on it so basically its like new.

My question is do I need to get this towed to get it certified or are they mechanics who can just go inspect it and get it done so it can just be plated....

Its near Caledonia and Eglinton area if that matters.

Any recommendations?

Your best bet would be call your insurance company. I called State Farm they made be pay first months payment up front then gave a a slip for 7 days to go get the safety done. With that slip you can get the ownership transferred and a plate for it. As long as you show the insurance company the updated ownership after it's all done your good to go. You won't be able to find a mobile certification online as its illegal and those who do do it won't advertise. If you want to try and be sneaky, my friend just wrote her car insurance policy on the paperwork for the transfer to get get plates.

Hope this helps.

She already has insurance (this is a replacement vespa, a clown killed her first one)
and she already gave them the new VIN.

its just a matter of getting the papers for ownership transfer.

Thanks for all the reply and link to the other post. I will try to find someone who can pickup and do the cert for a reasonable amount.

Ted at Rosey Toes may do mobile certification, it's worth a call.

From what I remember, he lost his license to certify bikes because he was going to peoples houses to certify their bikes.
