Missed first attendance, reopen case?

Hey guys, I got a ticket for failure to show insurance card and expired plate. Cop said to bring the proper paperwork in and they'll drop it. I scheduled first attendance, but could not make it for the appointment. I got a letter in the mail stating the fine and due date. I've heard of people re-opening their cases after the fact..is it too late for me? What should I be doing in this situation?

Thanks,

I have re-opened a case after conviction due to not receiving notice of trial in the mail. You go to 137 Edward St. (if it was a Toronto infraction) and swear an oath / file an affedavit with a Justice. If they buy your reason, the case is re-opened. Not sure the procedure for a first appearence though.

I was told that since I requested a meeting with the prosecutor (sounds like what you did), and missed it (for the same tickets), that it automatically gets filed to be sent to trial. By this it would mean that you are not convicted yet. I got lucky and my ticket was thrown out randomly (they sent me a letter).

Can i still re-open a case if i just paid the fine on one of those letters with conviction and fine?
The fine was paid online through VISA, and I simply forgot about the courtdate that just past because of work.
