Minor oil change issue

Did an oil and filter change on the burgman 650, put in 3.1L oil. Start it up it and run it for 5 mins. After waiting another 5 minutes I check the oil level and it is ok. 10 min after that it goes above full. Is this ok? Or should I drain more?

When you did the oil change you emptied all the oil first right?

From what I read here:
https://docs.google.com/View?docid=dgndw664_989cgk3d9cw&pageview=1&hgd=1&hl=en&pli=1
You only need 2.9L.

Confirm how much oil you were supposed to put in. Also put it on the centerstand nice and level and check the oil. It sometimes takes time for it all to drain into the oil pan. It could be while draining it got on your dip stick.

All old oil was emptied first yes.
Guess it was 2.9L. It has been on the centerstand the entire time in a level garage, also no dip stick. Will drain a bit more then see what happens.

It can take awhile for the oil to drain down. Leave it for an hour or so and then go check again.

Yesterday after the last time I started and checked it, it was over full. Just now, without riding it, or draining any, it was right at the full mark.

I do not know about a Burgman but on sportbikes the proceedure is:

- to start it.
- Let it idle, ensuring the oil light goes off
- shut it off
- wait 3 minutes
- level the bike and check the level
- do not check it 30 + minutes later as the level will have risen and produce a false reading.

Hope this is helpful.
I know this from the manuals (owners and shop) and from experience.

Will do that tomorrow during the day just to be sure, thanks!
