I imagine this topic has been touched on before but this is my first personal experience with this matter so....
On my way to work, I'm driving north on the Hanlon Expressway just south of Clair Road (Guelph) - now this is a known speed trap area (hell, all of Guelph is) so I'm not doing more than 95 (80 zone)...
Any how, my eagle eyes spot cars pulled over on the shoulder waaay up ahead, figures wearing neon green high vis vests.. Fairly obvious to me what they are...
I pass the 3 cruisers with all officers out on the side of the road, one manning the tripod..
I glance in my rear view mirror and watch as one officer runs out into the left lane to point over a speeder....
the Hanlon is truck central and tons of drivers routinely do over 100 KM/h on this expressway.... Seriously, you need to run out into a live lane risking not only your own life but the lives of every other driver on that road to POINT OVER A SPEEDER?
How is this deemed an acceptable and safe practice? I'm not about to google up statistics but I imagine there's been more than one incident of police being struck/killed or accidents resulting in an officer standing in the middle of the road while vehicles are travelling at high rates of speed
