Melloche Monnex checking on employment?

Hi guys,

I just found out that the company I work for has a corporate discount program with Melloche Monnex. I'll be saving a tonne of money by signing up with them, however, I just recently had an interview with another company, and I'm wondering if I set insurance up while I'm still at my job that has the corporate deal, am I going to lose the discount if I take a job at another company? Would they be able to find out that I no longer work for the company? I wouldn't be moving on to the new job for about a month from now.

Also, a side note question...does anyone out there know if there is a difference in insurance rates in Guelph vs. Milton? I'd be looking at moving and I live in the Barrie area now, so any insight on this will help tremendously!! \

Thanks :)

I'm not sure about the "Corporate Program" -- it sounds like you would be getting a discount based on the favourable claims experience of your group (i.e. your company). You can probably complete the policy year with the discount, but the company's underwriting may (or may not) require proof that you are still employed with the company each year. Even if they don't require the proof, you are required to tell them based on your insurance contract wording.

The rate difference between Guelph and Milton will likely be minimal for motorcycles. For cars, there could be a fairly big difference, depending on the company. This is a question that is impossible to answer without getting some quotes from an agent/broker. FYI, with my employer, the Milton rate on a full-coverage car is about 35% higher than Guelph. You could do online quote comparisons to see how other companies differentiate the two cities.
