My dad cut it down into big flat pieces. And also into some cross sections to build side tables.

Seriously, though. Does she want to keep the wood or get rid of it?

They have a fireplace. But they would need a huge chainsaw and splitting it would be a nightmare.

You could use a chainsaw to rip it in half (or one pass full bar and then wedges to split) but it would take a lot of effort and gas. I'd be inclined to take a small slice off to give you a flat bottom and turn them into benches around a fire pit.

Do you want an old school activity to tire out the kids? My parents have a one man and two man iirc. We used to use them to get xmas trees.

I thought that you weren't allowed to transport it very far, in case you spread something.

It looks like whoever cut it down tried to seal the ends -- probably had plans to slice it into slabs. You could probably find someone local with a portable mill to cut the stuff up and take it away. If you live in an area with Amish, they might come get it too.

It's about a 30ft drop to the bottom of the backyard. You can see the remainder of the tree to my right in the second pic. It's still about 20ft high.

Not sure where the logs are or what tree they are from, but maybe these guys will get them for you. Maybe even pay for them.

It has no commercial value , it’s a log . Rent a chainsaw from Home Depot and slice into 12” rounds not 16” , they will split just fine being 20% shorter . Split with a maul, you can rent that also.
Not supposed to transport out of tbe zone they were cut in , bugs and such .

You can call in a tree service and they will cut them up , but it will be very expensive. From the look of it , that’s a Saturday one day job .
