My insurance company said that when my GFand I have have been living together for over a year to let them know and they'll make a change to my policy and save some $$.
I assume it's because we'll be Common-law?
Now my GF and I have been living together for many years. When we first started dating she started staying over at my old place and next thing I knew she wasn't leaving, and all her stuff was at my place...and she had a key.

Now what makes it offical that we are common law? As I said, we have been living together for many years now. It's only this past October that we purchased a house together in both our names and all our mail is coming to the same address.
Can I just tell my insurance company that we've been living together for over a year (cause we really have) or is there an offical record somewhere they check?
We're planning on getting married at the end of the year anyhoo.
