Markham by-law, parking on the boulevard

Got a ticket and so did my neighbor. Now I'm very confused because this has never been a problem, my house has:

A garage
A drive way
A side walk
More drive way (Boulevard??)

I was parked on the "more drive way" part. Googling the bylaws I get:

“Boulevard” means the area between the traveled portion of the street or highway and the limit of the
public highway right-of-way but does not include a gravel shoulder;

No person shall park a motor vehicle; on any boulevard, except where the vehicle is parked on a designated access to private
property at right angles or parallel to the traveled portion of the highway;

So why the hell was I given a ticket? And yes, the car was parallel. I was slightly touching the grass on the lawn to allow another car to back out later. Would this have gotten me the ticket? Neighbor parked the same way too!

Boulevard, in this case, is your "more drive way". I've been given a ticket for parking in that portion of my driveway before.

But the by law states that it's okay? I'm really confused, debating on going to court for this stupidity.

Check the bylaws again. Markham has passed a law that will not allow you to park on anything but your driveway.

I lived there, went through it all.

My Google is failing, when was this?!

Have a look at this. You may be in the clear for Markham:

Edit: That may be a older brochure, not relevant anymore - infernobuster is correct

By law: 2008-188 section 5(j): no person shall park a motor vehicle; on any boulevard, except where the vehicle is parked on a designated access to private property at right angles or parallel to the traveled portion of the highway; (amended by-law no. 2008-1)

You're allowed to park parallel on your boulevard as long as your tires are not touching the grass, sidewalk, or road.

Right there.

Check your registered plan.
the "more portion" might belong to the crown

I have never seen a plan where the sidewalks were on private property (other than a condo, but in that case the road and sidewalk are both common element). There may be an exception somewhere, but for practical purposes, 100% of the time anything on the road side of the sidewalk with be part of the municipalities land.

I work in the field and this happens to one of my friend, the "more portion"of the driveway belongs to the crown, where there is cable and/or water easement on it

Yup. I work for a municipal government and I see this all the time. People assume their property goes the road but this is never the case.

As a rule of thumb the city road allowance starts where the water shut of valve is located. Their property, their rules. Also their responsibilities and liabilities.

Regardless, why would you even bother parking on the boulevard if you have both - your own garage and the driveway??

3 cars, 2 bikes, a friend was over for the week. Don't rob me. I have a car and 2 bikes in the garage, I refuse to shove 2 cars and 2 bikes in there!

If I were you I would park the bike in the living room. Just saying.

"A" is not legal, by the presented definitions. "B" is legal. Overhanging the roadway, sidewalk, or grass would make "B" illegal also.
