March Show

Hey All,

I'm a new rider, and this spring is going to be my first time out on the roads.

I'm basically all set except for a few pieces of gear. I still need a jacket, some chest and back armor to put inside, and some knee guards (I've got helmet, boots and gloves so far).

I've been looking around and I already know what gear I want. Since the March show is coming up, I was wondering whether it's really worth it to go to pick all this up, given that I might not even find the stuff I want.

I've got the GPbikes coupons that came with the 2013 catalog, and I can probably the online and in store ones to save a bit. But I'm wondering if I should just wait it out for the show?

I went to the January show and bought the helmet I wanted for about $20-$40 less than I saw in store or online. I also bought some MX gloves for $10 that are normally $20. I suppose I saved some money but as a new rider and new into offroad riding I also had a good time talking to some of the people at the Kawi booth, one of the helmet manufacturers, OFTR, CMTS and DualsportPlus.

I went to the March show last year and bought a helmet from GP. Since then, the helmet has been on sale a few times but never as low as when I bought it (including at the Jan show). I wouldn't say it was a steal but it saved me a good chunk of change (~$70 at the time). I also bought the transitions face shield at a discount as part of the show deal. When it came time to replace the helmet they offered me the same deal on the face shield since I had originally bought it at that price. So the deal continued to give.

But that's just GP. I don't remember seeing any other deals that really stood out except for a double-pane visor I bought for $25 that came with a breath guard.

Oh and give Jimmy's combo deal a look if you aren't dead set on what you want: http://www.gtamotorcycle.com/vbforu...Deal-Offer-on-Mens-Apparel&highlight=velocity

If you had checked the link in the thread you started, you would already know your answer. Most of the insurance companies in Ontario see motorcycles recreational vehicles, so they are going to base everything off your driving experience. That means your G1/G2/G. The only option you really have is Facility/Nordic. Please refer to the chart I will now link.

Sport Bike Insurance Decision Tree

Seeing as you are too lazy to look up their information, I have done it for you.

Nordic Toll Free# - 1-800-668-1000
Local Toronto# - 416-932-0044

Yes the rates that you are going to get from them are going to be very high. You literally have 0 driving experience on roads in general, let alone on a motorcycle. The other two insurers that would insure SS bikes are going to laugh you out the door. So either suck it up and pay out the cost of your bike every year in insurance, or sell it and get a 125/250 that will be much less than the GSXR in insurance.

P.S. Don't hijack other people's threads, especially when your question has already been answered in your own.
