Making the plate fit in the bracket?

I have one of the new plates (0A0A0) and can't get it to fit ANY bracket. are they easily drillable? Isn't drilling them illegal?

I'm using zip ties but with plate theft being a problem I'm looking to put on torx bolts.

Drilled mine. No issues and looks clean

^^

I did the same. So long as you're not outright butchering it like a kindergarten project, you should be fine.

I didn't know the numbering format changed. Based on your post I assume the dimensions have changed too?

And yes, you can drill it or make an adapter plate out of some thin metal.

Can you drill it?
-Easily

Is it legal?
-Technically no, since its government property

Have I ever heard of any problems because of it?
-Never

I hope we don't get those big arse European plates, those things are hideous

Agreed, the only benefit I see with those is that they double as a fender.

I only used two of the 4 holes and put 2 diagonally. After 12,000km, the bolts aren't loose and my plate has never come off.

...but I had a friend who made his own bracket and it broke off during rush hour. A nice truck driver told us he saw his plate fly off so we turned around to see his plate flying around between cars. Playing frogger irl sucks.

I drilled into the bracket. I'd recommend doing that if possible, looks much cleaner this way
